You certainly pack plenty into the three minutes or so you’re ‘on air’! As an English copywriter, I’ve been back through your video several times and I must say it’s refreshing that strong copywriting points are brought to life in this way. Of course, it helps when one is as telegenic as Suzanne!

In Soviet Russia, copy write you!

A killer copywriter wanted to start using Youtube so she wrote the greatest scripts and got started. However the emotion and punch didn’t carry over because she forgot to look into the camera and engage the viewer ;-)

    GREAT LESSON!

Thanks Suzanne! That’s my motto from now on!

OMG, r CWs morons?! this is ur INSIGHT, ur ‘TRICK’, ur edge?! pathetic. it’s like saying ‘if u want to drive a car from point A to point B don’t just turn knobs and play on the wheel – it’ll make u feel awesome but it won’t actually get u to point B, try actually starting the car and driving it.’ well… duh!

    Suzanne,
Thanks for providing real life, timely copywriting tips. Just thinking about how I can show don’t tell is helpful. If I paint a picture, provide benefits and be specific. Writing can be easier with real live examples. Thanks for the power.

Yeah, we want to see more door videos… I think you just invented a new movie genre ;-)

But get that pretty girl out the way — she keeps distracting me from the door with all these great ideas on copywriting!

  15. aniness says:

Thank you so much for your advice. Even though I have heard this before it was good to get the information again because sometimes we forget.
    thanks

So, rather than saying, “The stock market is about to embark on an explosive rally,” I should instead say, “Bernie Madoff might not be in such serious trouble if only he had been able to hold out until the New Year?”

    Hey Suzanne :)
Great Job! I’m going to go back and watch it again, and take notes!

As a video professional, watching your video reminded me why I need to get out from behind the camera more. People need to see us and hear us, to identify with us. Our words and copy on the website only works if people read it! People Love Video!
Great job, glad to see ETR is posting video clips. Might mention it more in the newsletter, I had forgotten :)
    Thanks

I found this very useful, suzanne, thank you; I’m a beginner and in something I read just now it said the only true way to learn is one-to-one with a mentor. For these few minutes you were it for me! I’m off to write an ad for birthing classes I’ll be offering in 2009. Julie-Anne

You’re pretty, and you sound intelligent, even though you’re reading cue cards. Good stuff!

  22. lesliecolenden says:

Charlie, I Like your philosophy about the copy having to be all about the client. What’s in it for the customer. If more people wrote that way, they would be much more successful.

    Thanks

  23. Zekimann0 says:

    Hey Charlie,

    Thanks for this video.

Focus on your clients/prospects – Yes, totally agree with that. But always seem to forget about it and instead focus on my own personal interest.

Will keep this in mind now. :)

Thanks again Charlie…and looking forward for more great videos from you.

  24. profixpros says:

Thanks for the video Charlie! Great tips on copy writing as always :)

  25. CarlinComm says:

    Hi Charlie

Thanks for doing the video, and thanks to ETR for all the great content!

I’m guilty of what you’re saying, and I love how you gave the great example of the carwash as the correct way. I’ve read this kind of thing for years, Video really seems to make it stick! Finally something worth watcing on YouTube :)

Thanks, best wishes for 2009, its goin to be a Great year!
